{"id":142,"date":"2013-06-07T09:33:36","date_gmt":"2013-06-07T09:33:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/aquagamete.webs.upv.es\/aquagameteblog\/?p=142"},"modified":"2013-06-10T09:32:41","modified_gmt":"2013-06-10T09:32:41","slug":"4th-day-of-1st-aquagamete-training-school","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/aquagamete.webs.upv.es\/aquagameteblog\/4th-day-of-1st-aquagamete-training-school\/","title":{"rendered":"4th day of 1st AQUAGAMETE Training School"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The 4th day of the Training School (Thursday 16th of May) started with a conference by Dr. Vanesa Robles (Universidad de Le\u00f3n, Spain), entitled \u201cAnalysis of cryopreserved material\u201d, which was dedicated to review the different techniques for evaluation of the quality of different kinds of cells which can be frozen and guarantee their viability.<br \/>\nDuring the rest of the morning, a series of three shorter presentations, with the common title of \u201cCryopreservation in aquatic species: case studies\u201d were given by Dr. Elsa Cabrita (ICMAN-CSIC), who talked about their experiments with grouper, Dr. Paz Herr\u00e1ez (Universidad de Le\u00f3n, Spain), who explained their experiments in salmonids and Dr. Juan F. Asturiano (UPV, Spain), who focussed his talk to their works on cryopreservation of eel sperm.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/aquagamete.webs.upv.es\/aquagameteblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2013\/06\/31-foto.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-143\" alt=\"31 foto\" src=\"http:\/\/aquagamete.webs.upv.es\/aquagameteblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2013\/06\/31-foto.jpg\" width=\"320\" height=\"203\" srcset=\"https:\/\/aquagamete.webs.upv.es\/aquagameteblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2013\/06\/31-foto.jpg 320w, https:\/\/aquagamete.webs.upv.es\/aquagameteblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2013\/06\/31-foto-300x190.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 320px) 100vw, 320px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In the afternoon, Dr. Elsa Cabrita and Dr. Marta Fern\u00e1ndez Riesco conducted a practical session entitled \u201cCryopreservation of primordial and testicular germ cells\u201d. Students extracted testis from sole specimens (donated by ICMAN-CSIC) and from European eel (donated by Valenciana de Acuicultura, S.L.).<br \/>\nSole testicular tissue was diced and maintained in culture medium, according to the usual protocol for freezing for later extraction of spermatogonia.
